Bank Street Public Meeting

Published Thu 20 Jul 2017

Dear Bank Street Clubs & Paddlers,

There has been some communications recently regarding a development application (DA) to build a temporary marina at Bank Street. The DA footprint is adjacent to the piece of land, on which Dragon Boats NSW has a licence to occupy with the state government through RMS. If this DA goes ahead there will serious safety ramifications to Bank Street Clubs and the many other dragon boaters using the Bank Street ramp. Given the nature of the marina, various residents groups are extremely concerned about traffic, noise and crowds. To this end, these action groups have called a public meeting next Monday to discuss the DA and to develop an action plan against the proposal.

Dragon Boats NSW will be attending this meeting and we encourage Bank Street Clubs and paddlers to also attend the public meeting and show support for the residents and the sport. The public meeting is next Monday 24 July, 7pm at The Station, 58 Bowman Street, Pyrmont. Find below a flyer with other information about the meeting. Also attached are documents with some history of Bank Street and details of what the DA needs at Bank Street to operate as a marina. In addition to attending this meeting, DBNSW is developing a submission to Urban Growth about safety concerns this DA poses to our paddlers. Please make sure your tell others about the meeting and encourage as many as possible to attend. As DBNSW gets more information, we will pass it on to the membership.
