CEO REPORT
We have finally come to the end of 2017. DBNSW has had a HUGE year with lots of achievements worth celebrating. Our Chair Tamsyn Glen will document some of the highlights next. For me personally I have had a busy start to the job understanding how Dragon Boats NSW operates. I now feel ready to launch into the 2018 campaign and beyond. We want to continue to stretch ourselves to always do better. Wishing everyone a safe and happy Christmas and New Year. I look forward to seeing everyone next year. If you are traveling on the roads be safe.
CHAIR REPORT
Good news stories for 2017;
-
A 3 year board strategic plan is coming to fruition including the transition from Glenn Tasker building policies and procedures in 3 days a week to employing Lucy Warhurst as CEO full time. This is in line with the growth of the organisation.
-
Member numbers are good for this time in the season.
-
DBNSW Constitution has been updated.
-
New Directors are embracing change and being brave to disrupt the way we have always done business to look at how to do better for our future.
-
Purchased a new DBNSW race fleet of boats based at SIRC.
-
Finances are in good order.

New initiatives for DBNSW;
-

-
New contacts were made with Blacktown council regarding a future with Dragon Boats at Prospects reservoir.
-
CEO and 2 Directors attended the AusDBF AGM and from all reports the meeting was not run as well as hoped. Candidates from NSW and other States/Territories who funded their travel to the AGM in Brisbane were not given the opportunity to speak to the voters. DBNSW voiced their disapproval. Geoff Roberts (new), and Melanie Cantwell and Angie Aston from NSW were elected to the AusDBF board.
-
AusDBF are sourcing more Race Officials & Assessors. NSW have submitted multiple candidates.
-
Bank Street home of DBNSW meetings have been held with Urban Growth, Political advisors, other State and National Sporting bodies in water sports. Strategic plan is in place with a push for Dragon Boats infrastructure and confirmation we have a home at Pyrmont for the long term.
Wishing everyone on DBNSW Board and Staff a Merry Christmas and we'll see everyone in the new year for a big 2018 campaign.
Regards,
Tamsyn Glen
