COVID RESTRICTIONS ROLLBACK
Published Tue 08 Dec 2020
Hello Clubs and Paddlers,
As announced by the NSW Premier last Wednesday from Monday 7 December, the Public Health Order (COVID-19 Restrictions on Gatherings and Movement) has been updated and the following restrictions for sport and recreation activities apply:
Gatherings in outdoor public spaces
- Gatherings in outdoor public places
- Up to 100 people can gather in outdoor public places (applies to DB training)
- Organised outdoor gatherings
- Other organised outdoor gatherings including community sport and recreation activities will be permitted to have up to 3,000 people, inclusive of people taking part in the activity, officials and spectators (subject to the one person per 2sqm rule). (applies to regattas)
- Controlled Outdoor Gatherings
- A controlled outdoor gathering is a gathering held in an outdoor space that is fenced, ticketed, and seated.
- A maximum of 5,000 people is permitted at a controlled outdoor gathering, provided all attendees are assigned specific seats.
- A maximum of 3,000 people is permitted at a controlled outdoor gathering where attendees are assigned to a seating area, but not specific seats.
- Both capacities are subject to meeting the one person per two square metre rule.
- Activity organisers will still be required to have a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place – updated templates will be available from the NSW COVID Safe Business page.
The impact of these changes on dragon boating means clubs are now permitted to have regular training up to a maximum of 100 people (per group) with a 2sqm per person rule. However club's safety plans should reflect these changes. If your club updates their safety plans please send through a copy to the dbnsw office. All other practices should continue.
Additionally the increase in cap will allow those hosting regattas further flexibility. This will apply to Race 4 taking place this weekend. Further details on this will be contained in the Draft Draw email later today.
