DBNSW Chief Executive
Published Wed 28 Jun 2017
It is with regret and some excitement that I inform the members of Dragon Boats NSW that I am retiring from the role of Chief Executive. The regret is that I am leaving a great sport with committed, caring and diverse members. The excitement comes from the opportunity for new thinking to take the sport to a new level.
It is almost two years since I was appointed as the organisation first Chief Executive on a part-time basis. My contract is for three days per week. Of recent times, it was abundantly clear to me that the role requires a full-time person. In discussing this with the board of DBNSW, the Directors have come to the same conclusion. I am not able to commit to five days a week and so the board will be seeking to appoint a new full-time Chief Executive. The recruitment of this person will begin immediately and I will stay on through the recruitment and induction process. Even though the timeline for the recruitment is open ended, the board is hopeful that the process will be completed by the annual general meeting in September.
Further information will be distributed as it becomes available. I want to thank the DBNSW board for the opportunities it has afforded me. I also want to thank our staff members Ramsay Cobb, Mal Wills and Denise Rogers for their support and assistance over the past two years. Thank you also to our clubs and paddlers, who have made me feel so welcome in the sport. I will continue to take great interest in the sport and be available to assist the new Chief Executive whenever necessary.
