DBNSW welcomes its newest club!
Published Mon 09 Dec 2019
The idyllic waters of Jervis Bay are world famous for white sands, whales and wildlife. Something else has risen of late to a different sound, you guessed it, dragon boat drumming. Dragon Boat NSW this week welcomed the associations’ newest club to the scene with the official registration of Mako Paddle Club.
Mako emerged on the waters of Jervis Bay two months ago with the launch of their first beach session at Vincentia. Originally an oddity on the water, the Jervis Bay community has embraced the presence of the dragon boat, the beat of the drum and the barefoot locals swarming the local coffee shops after training on Sundays.
“Aside from Bear and I, we have an entire club of 100% rookie paddlers and it’s both terrifying and exhilarating to help so many new paddlers experience dragon boat racing with DBNSW” said excited coach, Chicki.
Mako Paddle Club are based in Vincentia with paddle sites at Plantation Point and Currembene Creek and are currently recruiting like hell to build Prem and Senior A crews with fingers crossed to make 2020 Nationals.
