July COVID Update
Published Thu 09 Jul 2020
Hello Clubs & Paddlers,
This is a note to advise that DBNSW is aware of the ever changing COVID environment in NSW. DBNSW will continue to monitor and work with the relevant agencies to ensure we meet the requirements and ensure our members are as safe as possible. Should there be any future changes, we will communicate them to you. At this point, there have not been any changes to the Public Health Order in respect to community sport.
DBNSW reminds members, as per the Return to Paddle plan, to assist in preventing the community transmission of COVID-19 by:
- downloading the COVIDSafe app & getting the seasonal influenza vaccination (Flu shot);
- staying home if you are feeling unwell or experiencing flu-like symptoms or have within the past 14 days;
- showering at home before & after training;
- signing into each training session via the Safe 365 app (this is completed by the Coach/Sweep using the Coach/Sweep Pre-Start Checklist);
- only using your own labelled water bottle & avoid sharing equipment;
- maintaining 1.5m distancing where possible and avoiding unnecessary contact;
- adopting a “Get In, Train, Get Out” mindset;
- washing/sanitising shared equipment;
- washing your own uniform and equipment;
- avoiding unnecessary physical contact (no handshakes, high fives etc.) and no spitting;
- considering the use of additional PPE, such as facemasks or gloves (optional)
Finally, no member is required to participate if they feel it exceeds their personal risk tolerance level.
Before returning, all clubs are required to complete the Level B and C COVID safety plan, followed by the safe365 Checklists and ensure that there is a COVID safety officer – once submitted to DBNSW, it will be considered and then an approval letter sent. All clubs once approved are asked to complete BOTH the Pre-Training Checklist – Level C AND the Pre Training Sweep/Event Checklist via the app prior to EACH session.
We thank you all for your support – enjoy the paddle!
