MEMO – COVID-19 UPDATE 5 MAR 2022

Published Sat 05 Mar 2022

At the time of writing (5 March 2022) the NSW government has begun to remove the majority of laws and restrictions related to Covid-19 and the public health order. These rules and changes can be found on the NSW government website here. Changes that may affect dragon boating include:

  • Masks only need to be worn on public transport, hospital, health and care facilities, aircrafts and indoor music festivals over 1000 people
  • Covid-19 Safe Check-in (QR Code) is no longer required and is now optional for clubs to continue with them or not
  • As covered previously, all premises and activities (including Dragon Boating) are open to all regardless of their vaccination status. It is the choice of clubs and venues whether to require masks and/or vaccination in order for them to enter.
  • If a person tests positive for COVID-19 on rapid antigen test (RAT) they must register the result with Service NSW

Additionally DBNSW will no longer require clubs to complete the Pre-start Training Checklist [COVID-19]. We do however request clubs continue to complete the Training/Event Safety Checklist at every session as it is a great tool to assess whether it is safe to train or not.

Clubs should continue to do the following to manage participants that feel unwell, have symptoms of Covid-19 or have tested positive for Covid-19. They must:

  • Not attend training or regattas until they test negative for Covid-19 and no longer show symptoms
  • Self-isolate if they have been instructed to do so
  • Self-isolate for at least seven (7) days from the date and time they tested positive
  • Notify their club if they have tested positive and attended training/regatta within two days prior to the positive test

Furthermore, DBNSW encourages all individuals to practice physical distancing, proper hygiene and become fully vaccinated including boosters where available.

Further information on individuals managing covid-19 can be found on the NSW Health website.

Kind Regards,

DBNSW Team
