NSW Triumphs at AusChamps

Despite the ongoing challenges with Covid and its impact on dragon boating, New South Wales led by flag bearer Jenny Higgins and over 250 paddlers, coaches and managers competed strongly at the 2022 Australian Championships at AM Ramsay Regatta Centre, West Lakes, South Australia.

Strong performance across all categories saw the NSW crews walk away with 27 medals and the overall state champion with the Peter Bristow Trophy - Congratulations.

  State Championships
 

State Championships - 22 May 2022

DBNSW is committed to putting on a State Championships for our clubs and paddlers and wish to thank everyone who provided feedback and ongoing support for this year’s event. This has helped guide DBNSW in the decision-making process.

DBNSW is still planning to hold the State Championships on Sunday 22 May and strongly encourage all clubs to register their intent to compete at the event now by getting their entries into RevSPORT. Please note close of entries date has been extended to 9am Monday 16 May 2022.

A further update and final decision will be provided to the membership before Friday 13 May.

2022 Recognition Awards Nomination Period Open

It’s time to recognise outstanding contribution to the sport of Dragon Boating!

Nominations are now open for the 2021/22 Recognition Awards. Recognise members and clubs, who have made a significant contribute to the sport of Dragon Boats in NSW and beyond.

All nominations must be submitted or endorsed by the club. These awards will be presented at the 2022 DBNSW AGM.

Over 500 members and stakeholders recently shared their feedback on our sport’s strategy which was quickly followed up by the board holding a special day dedicated to it's implementation.

The DBNSW Board would like to share with our membership the key results which guided robust conversations at the DBNSW Strategy day that identify our three key priorities.

1. Develop a brand and marketing campaign to raise our sport’s profile for recruitment

2. Build participation rates across NSW

3. Revaluate and reinvigorate our Events to meet more needs of our members

DBNSW is currently in market to find an Equipment & Facilities Coordinator.

The Equipment & Facilities Coordinator will be responsible for the equipment and facility maintenance, and Regatta/Event support in line with DBNSW strategic plan. Playing a critical operational role in the preparation, planning and delivery, of all state DBNSW events.

NSW Officials Updated Policy & Reimbursement Scheme

DBNSW has just launched an updated Expense & Reimbursement Policy.

The most exciting part of this policy is DBNSW will now be providing full course fee reimbursement for any NSW official that attends a Level 2 or Level 3 officials course moving forward.

  New Sweep Registration Process
 

New Sweep Registration Process

DBNSW and the Sweep Coordinator Group (SCG) have been working on some administrative updates on how new sweeps get registered and start their sweeping journey.

As part of this update a new sweep registration form can now be found on the DBNSW website under the event calendar.

The updated Sweep Accreditation Procedures in Flow Chart form kindly provided by Coordinator Catherine Anderson can be viewed here.
