Unfortunately the wind became difficult to manage towards the middle of the day which led to the cancellation of the afternoon races.

NATIONAL PRIDE COME & TRY WEEKEND - 17/18 SEPT

LOCAL CLUBS JOIN NATIONAL PRIDE PADDLE

18 NSW Clubs will take to the water alongside almost 50 clubs across Australia on 17th and 18th of September as part of a national pride paddle to encourage participation from the local LGBTQ+ community.

DBNSW CEO Tony Henderson says he is proud to show support for inclusion. “Dragon Boating is an inclusive sport for all and it is great to see so much support from NSW clubs across the state”

The 18 clubs will open their doors to all community members as part of the event.

This is an exhilarating time for our sport, as we focus on Diversity and Inclusion to ensure we are representative of the Australian population, which includes the LGBTI+ community.

Australian Dragon Boat Federation Director of Inclusion and Diversity, Dr Ruth Bollard, says this event is a key step for the sport. “Over the past two years we have joined Pride in Sport and Diversity Council Australia and reached out to our community for their thoughts and experiences. Overwhelmingly, our members support diversity. Dragon Boat is a sport for everyone, just as they are.”
