Highlights of the 2021/22 Season include:

  • 4 Rounds of the DBNSW Regatta Series

  • The return of the Lunar New Year Races

  • Cross Border Championship in Albury/Wodonga

2021 Annual General Meeting

DBNSW held its Annual General Meeting Sunday 24 October at its office in Sydney Olympic Park and online. Thanks to all the life members, clubs and their delegates for attending.

Congratulations and welcome to our new board director, Belinda Fowler (Kempsey Macleay Dragon Boat Club) as well as returning directors Nicola Frowen (Pacific Dragons DBOCC) and Jade Murphy-Silver (Pacific Dragons DBOCC) who were all elected on the day.

Thank you to the other nominee Cassandra Ballebye who unfortunately missed out on this occasion.

We would also like to thank Geoff Roberts for his service to the DBNSW board. Geoff’s time as a DBNSW director was instrumental in guiding the organisation through the development and year 1 of the strategic plan. While Geoff has stepped down as director he will still be heavily involved in dragon boating through committee roles, regattas and representing the Northern Region.

The meeting also approved the Annual Report for the 2020/21 season which can be found here as well as the financial report here.

Three constitutional changes were also passed by our members with the updated constitution found here

  COVID UPDATE

COVID Update - Return to Dragon Boating

As of Monday 18th October, dragon boat (both training and regattas) is permitted, under conditions, by clause 2.12 of the NSW Public Health (Covid-19) General Order 2021.

DBNSW’s Plan to return to dragon boating is based on, and accepts, these Public Health Orders.

The Plan accepts as key principles that:

  • The health and safety of members, participants, coaches, officials, administrators/volunteers, visitors, families and the broader community is the number one priority.

  • Members, participants, coaches, officials, administrators/volunteers, families and the broader community need to be engaged and briefed on each Club’s Covid Safety Plan.

  • Facilities are assessed and appropriate plans are developed to accommodate measures to mitigate the risk of transmission of COVID-19.

  • Training and regattas cannot resume until the arrangements for sport operations and facility operations are finalised and approved, if necessary; and

  • At every stage of the return to sport process each Club must consider and apply all applicable State Government and local restrictions and regulations. Each Club, and DBNSW, needs to be prepared for any localised outbreak at our facilities, within our competitions or in the local community.
